This was the third of the TV Dinners series, sharing a meal alongside a screening of a short film made in the accompanying Camera-less filmmaking workshop, earlier that day.
TV Dinners is a a project by artists Sarah Forrest and Virginia Hutchison, monthly winter film club and an invitation to come together to watch a film, have a meal and conversation. The films shown at the film club will be a mixture of shorts and features by filmmakers and artists, selected by In the Shadow of the Hand to explore the questions: what does it mean to be social today? Post-lockdown and with long winter nights, how do we connect and socialise? What does this look and feel like? TV Dinners are social, experimental and collaborative.
To introduce the project, and to create the means for eating together at future film clubs, the artists led a metal casting workshop in October, creating 20 beautiful aluminium TV Dinner trays (chip trays) for the project. For January, the artists invited Alex Hetherington to lead a two-day Camera-less filmmaking workshop. The film made at the workshop were projected, alongside films by other artists. Access: The artists' house is on the first floor, accessed via a flight of stairs or the lift. There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor. The front door is a short distance (around 20m) along the lane next to Square Deal. There is a variety of seating available upstairs, including stools, chairs and a sofa.
