In the early stages of thinking about the Square Deal building, our design team asked questions such as How can we design and collectively build a living room for everybody in Huntly that becomes a family friendly reference in the world of art? Huntly has a long history of community organising, sharing and community support. We always imagined Square Deal as a hub for learning and exchanging skills and as a nod to that, on Saturday 7th May, we’re hosting a drop-in ‘skills barter’.
Have you always wanted to learn how to fix your bike, make a home remedy, build a dry stone wall in your garden or screenprint anything you like on whatever you like? Those skills and many more were all shared on the first May Saturday. Everyone could have a go at:
Screenprinting with Petra Pennington
Bike maintenance with Darren and Tim from Tyred n Cranky
Dry stone walling with Alexis George Wild
Garden designing with Katrina Flad from Frock n Wellies
Bouquet making with wildflowers and weeds with Claudia Zeiske from Huntly Greenspace Collective
Knife and scissor sharpening with Dave Simpson from Simply Sharp
