Miles Benzies is a multidisciplinary artist based in Aberdeen and brought up in the 'shire, whose practice includes taking photographs every day, making rhythmic and gestural marks on materials like board and fabric, and thinking about patterns and signs of time passing in objects and materials, all with environmental consciousness. For Friday Lunch, Miles took us through his practice, sharing his current experiments into creatively repurposing pharmaceutical packaging and inviting your collaboration! Relief from pain, physical or psychological, can be found in the act of making marks, such as through printing techniques, folding and refolding materials or simply with a pen, and today, we'll all be marking areas of 'pain relief' packaging using pens whilst we listen to Miles. This was the first collaborative creation that will have been made within Miles' project!

About Friday Lunch
The sharing of food is a great leveller. Every other Friday, we invite people to speak about topics that relate to art, ecology, birds, politics or many other threads of Huntly life. At 1pm our team, along with artists and whoever else wants to join us, have lunch together and get involved in this sharing of knowledge. All are welcome to join – just turn up on the day! We have a donations pot at this event, and suggest a donation of £2 which goes towards the cost of ingredients and any access needs for the speaker. More info can be found below the programme of speakers.

Home Programme
This event is part of the Home Programme, a series of regular community events taking place at Deveron Projects programmed by our Art & Community Worker. The Home Programme celebrates local knowledge and experience, and explores what it's like to live and work in and around Huntly. It includes Friday Lunch, as well as the monthly Food Chain cookery workshop and a stall at the Huntly Farmers' Market.
