Berkeley is the Founder and CEO of The Diversity Trust, a community interest company who's mission is to ‘influence social change to create a fairer and safer society’, and who now have an office in Huntly. To celebrate the LGBT+ History Month, which takes place every February across the UK, Berkeley covered a potted social, political and cultural history of where we have travelled, from criminalisation, through activism, decriminalisation, to the social change which has shaped the last few decades. Sometimes personal, always political, the talk was a rollercoaster ride through a timeline over the last century and ended with a gaze into the future.
About Friday Lunch
The sharing of food is a great leveller. Every other Friday, we invite people to speak about topics that relate to art, ecology, birds, politics or many other threads of Huntly life. At 1pm our team, along with artists and whoever else wants to join us, have lunch together and get involved in this sharing of knowledge. All are welcome to join – just turn up on the day! We have a donations pot at this event, and suggest a donation of £2 which goes towards the cost of ingredients and any access needs for the speaker. More info can be found below the programme of speakers.
Home Programme
This event is part of the Home Programme, a series of regular community events taking place at Deveron Projects programmed by our Art & Community Worker. The Home Programme celebrates local knowledge and experience, and explores what it's like to live and work in and around Huntly. It includes Friday Lunch, as well as the monthly Food Chain cookery workshop and a stall at the Huntly Farmers' Market.
