Mélanie and Simon came to Wantonwells Farm in Insch as volunteers, originally hailing from France. For March's Food Chain, Mélanie and Simon shared how to make Accra and and Rougail Saucisse, two island dishes originating from Martinique in the Caribbean and Réunion in the Indian Ocean respectively. They shared these recipes inspired by their time living in Martinique where Accra is a well known food served in bars and restaurants over the island. Often ordered with ti' punch, Martinique's national cocktail, Accra is prepared with salted cod, but we'll be making a vegetarian alternative too. For Mélanie and Simon, this meal represents sun, zouk music and good vibes!

About Food Chain
Which rich culinary backgrounds do we have resident in our own community? Come along to our monthly group cook-along to learn someone else's recipes of home, where together we'll learn about each other's cultural backgrounds as we cook. All are welcome to join, but please email jess@deveron-projects.com prior to the event to book your space! We have a donations pot at this event, and suggest a donation of £5 which goes towards the cost of ingredients and any access needs for the speaker. More info can be found below the programme of recipe contributors.

Home Programme
This event is part of the Home Programme, a series of regular community events taking place at Deveron Projects programmed by our Art & Community Worker. The Home Programme celebrates local knowledge and experience, and explores what it's like to live and work in and around Huntly. It includes Friday Lunch, as well as the monthly Food Chain cookery workshop and a stall at the Huntly Farmers' Market. If you'd like to contribute to the Home Programme, or know someone who you'd love to hear from, then get in touch with our Art & Community Worker Jess on jess@deveron-projects.com.
