The Aberdeenshire Lived Experience Network (ALEN) will be having our first in-person meeting at the Square Deal on Weds 26th of April (10am-12pm) where network members will have the chance to explore ways to engage, the good, the bad and the ugly, learning from each other’s experiences.
We continue to develop ALEN, a network of organisations and Aberdeenshire Council service representatives. The purpose of the network is to share information, training, resources and to increase engagement with whatever projects we may all be working on to include a wider audience of those whose voices we don’t always get to hear. We currently have members from 3rd sector organisations and council colleagues but want to continue to expand the network so there is greater support for volunteers, staff, and the people they work with to have the opportunity to influence decision making through their experiences. We hear from those who are marginalised and those who may not have the confidence to be part of a group in their community but have ideas on how to improve the services they use. Through existing relationships we can ensure their contributions can be made in a safe and supported way.
This meeting is for members of the network, but there will be a public drop-in at the Stewarts Hall in the afternoon.
