Marking the end of Kawther Luay’s Square Meal residency, we invited everyone to a Midsummer Meal in Huntly’s Square for all to enjoy.
Celebrating the simple act of eating together after a long social fast, this event marked our relationships with food and with each other, setting a space to playfully invite friendship and closeness amidst ‘social distancing’ measures. This invitation extended to the wild; Kawther’s residency included group foraging walks and utilised the natural larders of Huntly’s local ecology, from the White Wood to the banks of the River Deveron. Plants and herbs from close to home were hidden in each of the dishes, or perhaps even taking centre stage!
Kawther was serving a lively three courses with a scattering of palate cleansers, drinks, speeches, stories, and live music, including an introduction from Natalia Palombo, our new Director.
