For the June Farmers' Market we were joined by Caroline Wendling, who had come to Huntly as our artist in residence to continue her work on the White Wood. We were on the search for members of the White Wood Care Team, newly created during Caroline's time in Huntly. Community folk who have an interest of knowledge in trees, foraging, history and heritage, walking or just a love of nature are encouraged to sign up to be a part of the Care Team to look after the White Wood for generations to come.
Alongside this, the new Care Team members had an opportunity to make their own badges and bookmarks to decorate as well as a quiz to find out more about the White Wood. Kawther Luay, our current Square Meal chef in residence dished up biscuits made from locally foraged Sweet Cicily, and tea from freshly picked Gorse flowers. She was also chatting about using the White Wood as a local kitchen cupboard – the White Wood Larder – and sharing information about how to forage responsibly and safely.
