Covid-19 pandemic
During the 2020 Covid pandemic, our Heritage Bakers Kate and Christine were running a small Honesty Shop outside 8 Castle Street, where they were providing supplies for the soul. The available produce was changing daily with Kate and Christine's delicious, organic sourdough bread and other tasty bakes available between Thursday to Saturday from 9am until sold out, or late – whichever came first!
Our lovely handmade cart was only going out with leftovers which were available on the basis of suggested donation. Cash could be left on the penny plates in the shop, posted through the letterbox of no.8 if the shop wasn't open, or you could pay via a bank transfer.
All the Honesty Bakehouse produce was made following the appropriate guidelines within the Neep & Okra cafe premises at 8 Castle Street which had been hygiene approved by Aberdeenshire Council.
Today
The Honesty Cart moved to a Huntly's Square corner, just outside Square Deal, 22 The Square and, having been repainted for Kawther Luay's project The Gathering Table, is currently being used as a barter shop.
