From classical authors to Disney films, the monster has always been conceptualized, illustrated, and spun into stories and myths in and for a myriad of ways and reasons. Our 2022 project artist Irineu Destourelles was in Huntly thinking about community identity and healing with his fictional character Lilo, as part of his project Does it Fall from the Skies Above?; for Friday Lunch, Irineu was using monsters to trace back ideas of otherness and the very contested border between animal and human. (Monster Munch crisps were available… of course).
