This shop was an experiment in an alternative food economy – it changed, and developed, and adapted over time depending on who and how it was being used. Ultimately we were testing out how a new form of local social enterprise could develop.
The Barter shop was open Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9.30am-4.30pm in 2018.
And how did it work?
•Bring any food that you have a surplus of, e.g. too many courgettes.
•Exchange it for something else you would like or gift it.
•If you have nothing to exchange now, think about what you might be able to bring back, e.g. chutney made with courgettes. Or what else you might have to offer, a skill or your time.
•If you still think you have nothing to exchange, either pay what you can or take for free.
