David Blyth undertook the first ever residency offered by Deveron Projects back in 1998. Since then David returned to the town for a two-year position as Town Artist during 2005-7. The idea of the Town Artist is a collaborative project which seeks to develop dynamic partnerships between local groups and Deveron Projects.
During this time David embarked on a number of projects, addressing themes as diverse as people's relationship to animals, bothy ballads and farming life. Projects in the first year included:
Bridle Suite / Pommel Pony
byDandi
Scranky Black Farmer
His time in Huntly culminated in a project entitled Knockturne, for which he worked with a local sheep farmer during the lambing season.
