Throughout all of our Artists’ Socials to date, the challenges in finding appropriate spaces for making and presenting work in Aberdeenshire have repeatedly come up as a common issue in sustaining a creative practice here. Studios and project spaces are not just functional places to make work, they also feature as hubs for creative exchange, mutual support and community building.
At this Artists’ Social, Colin and Svetlana will share a short talk about how Outer Spaces operates, including some successes and challenges in creating studios in vacant buildings, and will offer support and advice towards our conversations around what could happen in Huntly. Everyone is welcome – this is an ongoing, and currently speculative, conversation so existing and new perspectives are equally helpful.
If anyone is free and interested, Colin and Svetlana will also head out on a walk around Huntly for an insight into vacant properties around the town, and you are welcome to join this too – time and day to be confirmed.

*Artists take many forms and make different types of work. This might include, but is not limited to: painting, sculpting, drawing, performing, singing, walking, dreaming, facilitating, collaborating, writing, playing music, creating, thinking, growing, cooking… You do not need to have studied art, shown your work publicly, or be making things regularly to be an artist.
