Local resident Irena Henderson joined us for our first Food Chain of 2023! For this month's cookery workshop, we explored the many ways you can transform a sheet of puff pastry into a comforting lunch snack in the form of pies, bridies, pastries and rolls. We chatted about the huge variety of fillings that can be used – both traditional and non-traditional – and made both vegetarian and meat versions of the snacks. Irena brought along a selection of fillings for our pastries including macaroni cheese (vegetarian), sausage meat, mushroom mix (vegetarian), mince mix, and salmon and green pesto (pescetarian).
About Food Chain
Which rich culinary backgrounds do we have resident in our own community? Come along to our monthly group cook-along to learn someone else's recipes of home, where together we'll learn about each other's cultural backgrounds as we cook. All are welcome to join, but please email jess@deveron-projects.com prior to the event to book your space! We have a donations pot at this event, and suggest a donation of £5 which goes towards the cost of ingredients and any access needs for the speaker. More info can be found below the programme of recipe contributors.

Home Programme
This event is part of the Home Programme, a series of regular community events taking place at Deveron Projects programmed by our Art & Community Worker. The Home Programme celebrates local knowledge and experience, and explores what it's like to live and work in and around Huntly. It includes Friday Lunch, as well as the monthly Food Chain cookery workshop and a stall at the Huntly Farmers' Market. If you'd like to contribute to the Home Programme, or know someone who you'd love to hear from, then get in touch with our Art & Community Worker Jess on jess@deveron-projects.com.
