Kawther is a budding forager and wild ingredients enthusiast, and as part of her project The Gathering Table has been hosting one-to-one foraging walks with people in and around Huntly. For this Hairst event, Kawther was joined by Alison Massie, who leads Networks of Wellbeing’s Chilling Women group and works as an aromatherapist and yoga therapist, for a public walk in search of herbs and flowers that hold the capacity to heal. Kawther and Alison then shared ways to prepare medicinal and cosmetic remedies with what we find!
This event took place in the run up to the Huntly Hairst, a time where local food, producers, skills and knowledge is celebrated. Check out our other events we had going on, including Friday Lunch with Rhynie-based Copper Fox Brewery, a climate themed story writing workshop and a Huntly Climate Ceilidh!
About the project
This event is a part of The Gathering Table, a project with chef and artist Kawther Luay. The project explores foraging, food and craft through a lens of care and hospitality, with Kawther leading foraging walks, reopening of the Barter Shop and inviting other practitioners to share their skills and knowledge.
