The Town is the Garden began in 2017 with Joss Allen (Green Coordinator), Camille Sineau (Project Assistant) and Lindy Young (Project Gardener), and was joined by Caroline Gatt (Project Assistant) in 2018 and Rhian Davies (Project Assistant) in 2020. Through crafting gardens, vegetable plots and orchards they attempted to rethink how a community might feed itself as it faces up to the global climate and ecological emergency.
The TITG team were working together since the project ended to bring together a collection of small books. The Town is the Garden Chapbooks, a collection of seven chapter books of essays, recipes and poetry captures some of the wide learning from the project The Town is the Garden, were launched online in January 2022. There were readings from Joe Crowdy and Dawn Finch, two of the contributors of the collection, alongside a conversation with editors Joss Allen and Caroline Gatt.
