Join us in the Brander Garden to learn some essential winter gardening jobs. First up, is tool maintenance and the importance of compost aeration!

Tool maintenance is vital to kill off any transferable diseases and pests, as well as maintaining bladed tools for pruning and grafting. This will save you money and time in the long run, ensuring your tool kit is robust and ready for the growing season!

Composting is a great way to have a low environmental impact, by bringing all the goodness your plants need to the source where it is needed; even more so when it is produced from your own waste! The winter months allow other processes to slow down, freeing up time to focus on those heaps and bins of earthy gold. Aeration is vital to breathe in fresh life into decomposing matter. It further breaks up vegetation allowing a larger surface area for a quicker breakdown, and gives the macro as well as microorganisms oxygen. Another added benefit is created through small pockets being formed, allowing water to be retained, and crevices to be occupied.

Bring sturdy footwear, warm clothing and gardening gloves if you have them.

Light refreshments will be provided. All welcome / Free event.

See you in the garden!
