This shop was an experiment in an alternative food economy – it changed, and developed, and adapted over time depending on who and how it was being used. Ultimately we were testing out how a new form of local social enterprise could develop.
The Barter Shop was opened by the Town is the Garden team on Thursday 16th Aug 2018 at No. 8 Castle St.
People were invited to bring along a recipe, a story, an aubergine (or any excess produce this wonderful summer has given you!) to exchange.
BBC Radio Scotland's Nicola Singleton was in residence for the day, gathering stories for Grow It, Cook It, Eat It for broadcast in September.
