Square Deal is a creative community hub, located on The Square, Huntly.
It’s a flexible, accessible and welcoming place for everyone in the community. You can use Square Deal for events, workshops, groups, meetings and more! In fact, it’s a great space for testing out your ideas and getting together with other people in the community. Square Deal is more than a venue, instead a supported space to make your ideas a reality.
Square Deal was bought in 2018 by Deveron Projects as part of Huntly’s town strategy, Room To Thrive. The building lay empty for 10 years, but is now owned and cared for by Deveron Projects on behalf of the community. Many people have fond memories of Square Deal when it was a chemist, a bank, and even a tin smith! The building was carefully refurbished, opening in 2022, with a warm and appealing interior that draws from the artisanal history of the space.

We are happy to talk through any ideas you have for the building or events you’d like to run. We would like to support community members to host their own events.
How it works
We want Square Deal to be affordable for everyone, so ask you to pay what you can for use of the space.
As a guide (per hour):
Free : not-for-profit, community-organised activity
£4-6 : community groups/organisations with some income £8 : commercial, for-profit activity, or funded groups/orgs
We can also offer full day hire for £80, dependent on availability. Unfortunately, we don’t currently support private parties.
The main space in Square Deal is super flexible. It has wooden floors and white painted walls. It seats up to 30 people comfortably, with 50 standing. There is level access from The Square, Huntly.
There are:
• 8 tables that can be configured depending on your needs. These can also be folded away.
• 30 folding metal chairs
• A longer table, great for setting up refreshments or as a welcome table • Re-usable flip chart pad and pens
Uses so far include; meetings, network events, fairs, exercise classes, film screenings, meals, shops, healthcare provision, pop-up shops, workshops and more!
Unfortunately there is very little storage in Square Deal, though depending on your needs we may be able to offer storage in another building.
Square Deal has a compact, fully equipped kitchen.
Use of the kitchen is included in your booking, and you are welcome to make your own refreshments (for activity in Square Deal), or use the kitchen for intimate classes.
There is:
A catering size oven
2 ring counter-top hob
large fridge
catering-standard equipment and appliances
Bowls, plates, cutlery and community crockery for 30 people.
If you would like to use the kitchen for external catering / cooking, beyond an event in Square Deal, please get in touch to discuss pricing.
There is also a set of 3 portable hobs for cooking classes.

There are baby changing facilities, with nappies and baby wipes available.
Square Deal is a great place for meetings and presentations. It has also been used for film screenings and hot desking!
As part of your booking you are welcome to use:
• free wifi
• projector (HDMI & VGA connection)
• wireless speaker
If you are interested in using the projector, but need a hand to get set up, just let us know.
Located behind Square Deal, the garden is a wee haven and sun trap in summer. With a paved patio area, built in seating, a fire pit and wild flower meadow, it is a lovely space for breaks, fresh air and outdoor meetings.
You are welcome to use the garden as part of your booking – please let us know if you intend to do this, and seek permission before using the fire pit.
We can provide refreshments for your event, including: 
A selection of 2 x teas, including a herbal option
Coffee (decaf coffee available if requested in advance)
Biscuits (including gluten free option)
Fruit
We charge £1.50 per head – this must be requested at the point of booking.
Although we cannot currently provide catering, we can connect you with other providers in the area and you are welcome to arrange this for your event.
